It is Labor Day 2026 weekend as I write and I hope that all of you are enjoying a restful weekend as our nation pauses to recognize the contributions of the workers who have been and are the real backbone that has driven the United States forward. And I hope youβre also remembering that eighty-two years ago in September, 1944, that the men of the Golden Acorn Division were laboring to successfully complete Preparations for Overseas Movement requirements (POM). Philip C. Kretschman (D-345), age 100, passed away peacefully on May 31st, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a remarkable life filled with faith, strength, and care for those around him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille F. (Adamczyk) Kretschman; they were married 64 years until her death in 2017. He was also preceded by his sister, Sister Marie Fatima Kretschman, and his grandson, Philip [more...]
